Treasurer

The Village Treasurer is responsible for assisting with the financial administration of the Village and working closely with Village officials, department heads, and the Village Board to ensure accurate financial records and responsible management of public funds.

Residency Requirement

The successful candidate must reside within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Bradford at the time of appointment and must continuously maintain residency within the Village while serving as Village Treasurer.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records for all Village funds and accounts;
  • Processing accounts payable and preparing payments for approved Village expenses;
  • Recording deposits, receipts, transfers, and other financial transactions;
  • Reconciling Village bank accounts and financial records;
  • Assisting with payroll processing and payroll-related records;
  • Preparing monthly financial reports for the Village Board;
  • Monitoring revenues and expenditures;
  • Assisting with preparation and administration of the annual Village budget;
  • Maintaining records related to grants, restricted funds, and special accounts;
  • Working with the Village’s accountant, auditor, financial institutions, and other professional service providers;
  • Assisting with the annual audit and providing requested financial documentation;
  • Maintaining organized financial files and records in accordance with applicable retention requirements;
  • Attending Village Board meetings when necessary to present financial information and answer questions;
  • Assisting Village officials with financial planning and reporting;
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation and internal controls are maintained for Village financial transactions; and
  • Performing other financial and administrative duties associated with the Treasurer’s office.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, payroll, finance, or a related field;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to maintain confidential financial and personnel information;
  • Experience with accounting software, spreadsheets, and electronic recordkeeping;
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision;
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to Village officials and the public;
  • Ability to manage multiple Village funds and bank accounts;
  • Dependability and a high level of personal and professional integrity; and
  • Residency within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Bradford.

Previous municipal or governmental accounting experience is preferred but not required. Training may be provided to a qualified candidate with a strong accounting or bookkeeping background.

Position

This is a part-time position serving the village.. The position offers an opportunity to work directly with Village leadership and have a meaningful role in the financial operations of the community.

Work hours may be flexible based upon Village needs, although availability will be required for financial deadlines, audits, budget preparation, and certain Village Board meetings.

Police Officer

As a Part-Time Police Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the community. This position involves enforcing laws, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and engaging in community policing efforts. You will work collaboratively with the police department to maintain law and order while fostering positive relationships with the public.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity, conduct traffic stops, and respond to emergencies promptly.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and crimes, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Enforce laws and ordinances, issuing citations and making arrests as necessary, following proper legal and procedural protocols.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives, building positive relationships with community members and providing safety education.
  • Attend court hearings and provide testimony as needed.
  • Respond to and assist with medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters, and other public safety incidents.
  • Engage in proactive crime prevention through targeted patrols, surveillance, and community events.
  • Provide assistance to individuals in crisis, such as domestic violence victims or those in mental health emergencies, and connect them with resources.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies on joint operations.
  • Maintain and clean assigned equipment, vehicles, and facilities 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of police academy and certification as a police officer.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record; ability to operate emergency vehicles safely.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Must pass background checks, physical agility, and psychological screenings.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and maintain physical fitness 

Maintenance

Role Overview

A part-time Village Maintenance Assistant supports the Village’s public works and facilities by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and infrastructure. The position is hands-on, often involving outdoor work, equipment operation, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests for leaks, broken locks, minor electrical issues, and other urgent needs.
  • Perform routine inspections of doors, windows, lighting, plumbing, and other systems to identify wear or hazards.
  • Complete basic repairs such as fixing plumbing, replacing tiles, adjusting hinges, painting walls, mounting shelves, or installing whiteboards.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and supply rooms to ensure readiness and cleanliness.
  • Support seasonal and special projects like snow removal, landscaping, and facility upgrades..
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, equipment usage, and safety compliance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of local codes, ordinances, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with common tools and basic repair techniques.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment

  • Year-round outdoor work, including winter conditions.
  • Physical demands such as lifting/moving items up to 50 lbs, frequent bending, and standing.
  • Exposure to machinery, vehicles, and potentially hazardous materials.
